The Side Effects of Hydroxycut
For those that may not be aware, Hydroxycut is the brand name for a group of dietary products designed specifically to help you lose weight.
As one of the biggest selling weight loss products on the market, selling around 1 million units per year, it seems almost inevitable that side effects may be noticed by some people....
Officially, the suggested side effects of Hydroxycut may be linked to:
- Liver damage
- Rhabdomyolysis (damage to muscle cells)
- Ipsum For tht Lorem ipsum dolor sit ipsumdolor sit the fobt
- At least one fatality has been reported
Unofficial reports by some users of the product include more minor side effects such as:
dizzy spells
fluctuations in body temperature
anxiety
generally feeling unwell at times
In part, these side effect symptoms can be accounted for by the presence of caffeine in Hydroxycut which in itself has effects on the Human body such as dehydration (which can cause headaches) as well as more serious effects such as the development of varicose veins.
Hydroxycut was recalled by its manufacturer in mid 2009 after the FDA issued a warning to consumers prompting them to stop using the product due to the aforementioned side effects. At the time, the product had been central to heavily debated topics across various media, from day time TV talk shows to internet bulletin boards. Users of Hydroxycut were reporting success and side effects in mixed measures, with the overall reaction to the product as a weight loss supplement being equally as mixed.
The quick-fix culture
The general consensus was that Hydroxycut worked well as a weight loss supplement. This meant that when coupled with a sensible diet and regular, consistent exercise noticeable results were assured due, in part, to the positive effects of the Hydroxycut product. . Effectively, Hydroxycut helped its users to lose weight quicker with it, than without it.
However, it is arguable that one does not need the help of a weight loss supplement, especially if the potential negative side effects of taking the product are so catastrophic. Many doctors and health professionals would recommend a healthy diet of fruit, vegetables and water in order to lose weight, and go so far as to frown upon the usage of supplements such as Hydroxycut, especially with such damaging side effects.
Hydroxycut as a brand
In terms of brand building, Hydroxycut remains a strong force in the American weight loss marketplace due to its successful line of related products and strong marketing messages. However, in 2003 the company was subject to a lawsuit due to false claims in their advertising campaign. The product was billed as a clinically proven fat burner, a claim which was disputed and worsened by the insinuation that Hydroxycut was nothing more than an appetite suppressant.
Should you use Hydroxycut?
If you suffer severely with weight issues, there are certain Hydroxycut products which have been received more positively by the consumer market. It is true to say however, that no weight loss product alone can lead to successful slimming without the desire of the user of the product. In short, the single best ways to lose weight remains a sensible diet and consistent exercise.
